“A Day With Art Blakey 1961, Vol. 2” features Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers on a live date at Sankei Hall in Tokyo, Japan in January 1961. The group features Lee Morgan (trumpet), Wayne Shorter (t sax), Bobby Timmons (piano), Jymie Merritt (bass), and of course Blakey on drums! This is practically the same line-up featured on the famous album “Moanin’,” except Benny Golson plays tenor sax on that album.
Songs on album: 1) Nelly Bly , 2) Dat Dere, 3) Round About Midnight, 4) A Night in Tunisia the songs are pretty long, so you get some great solo time!
